Description was accurate...metal is brown and cover is very dark espresso and grid on top looks very nice...easy to assemble...the two we bought work well at foot of full size beds in guest room with tight space. Good for small luggage, or for sitting to put on shoes....aesthetically, better to have taller and wider ottomans, but after lengthy search these were the best choice for the price. They connect well with very dark espresso headboards.
